Valvirginio Chianti DOCG Riserva is the true expression of Tuscan winemaking tradition. It is produced from a careful selection of the finest Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, grown among the rolling hills of Montespertoli and the surrounding areas, where the favorable climate and well-suited soils allow the grapes to reach optimal ripeness, giving the wine elegance, balance, and remarkable character.
The winemaking process combines tradition with state-of-the-art technology to minimize oxygen exposure, preserving the wine’s freshness while enhancing the distinctive qualities of the grape varieties. Depending on the vintage, the grapes undergo extended maceration for up to 25–30 days to extract maximum color, structure, and aromatic complexity. The wine is then aged in oak casks for at least 12 months, followed by an additional 5 months of bottle ageing, allowing it to achieve the perfect balance of intensity, softness, and finesse.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby-red color with elegant garnet reflections, a hallmark of its ageing process. On the nose, it reveals a broad and refined bouquet, offering aromas of ripe red berries intertwined with delicate spicy notes and subtle hints of bottle development. On the palate, it is smooth, full-bodied, and harmonious, supported by pleasant freshness and well-integrated tannins that provide structure while maintaining elegance. The finish is long, persistent, and distinguished by an elegant spicy aftertaste.
Valvirginio Chianti DOCG Riserva is the perfect companion to the finest dishes of traditional Tuscan cuisine. It pairs beautifully with mixed grilled meats, roasted meats, braised dishes, game, fine poultry, and aged cheeses, while also complementing rich pasta dishes with meat ragù or slow-cooked sauces.
